Fatty Sling

  • SERVINGS: makes 1 drink

Fatty Crab; Manhattan

Cocktail expert David Wondrich conceived the Fatty Sling as a nod to Donn Beach, the famous owner of the tiki-themed restaurant Don the Beachcomber. Beach, Wondrich says, "liked combining dashes of Pernod and Angostura bitters to give his concoctions a je ne sais quoi."

  1. Ice
  2. 1 1/2 ounces overproof white rum
  3. 2 ounces pineapple juice
  4. 1/4 teaspoon Pernod
  5. 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
  6. 2 ounces chilled ginger ale
  7. 1 pineapple wedge
  8. 1 maraschino cherry
  9. 1 cocktail umbrella (optional)
  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the rum, pineapple juice, Pernod and Angostura bitters and shake well. Strain into an ice-filled collins glass and stir in the chilled ginger ale. Garnish with the pineapple wedge, maraschino cherry and cocktail umbrella.
