El Capitán

El Capitán is a Peruvian interpretation of a Manhattan, featuring the country's indigenous spirit pisco. Cannon augments the recipe with the artichoke-flavored liqueur Cynar, spicy Fernet-Branca and orangey Créole Shrubb.
- Ice
- 1 ounce pisco
- 1 ounce Carpano Antica Formula or other sweet vermouth
- 3/4 ounce Cynar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Fernet-Branca (bitter Italian digestif)
- 1 scant teaspoon Créole Shrubb or other orange liqueur
- 1 orange twist, for garnish
- Fill a pint glass with ice. Add the pisco, vermouth, Cynar, Fernet-Branca and Créole Shrubb and stir well. Strain into a chilled double rocks glass and garnish with the orange twist.
