For this spiked hot drink, Jeff Grdinich favors superindulgent hot cocoa made with cream rather than milk or water.

  1. 1 1/2 ounces aged rhum agricole
  2. 3/4 ounce maraschino liqueur
  3. 1/2 ounce St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram (allspice liqueur)
  4. 4 ounces hot chocolate
  5. Dollop of lightly sweetened whipped cream, for garnish
  6. 1 star anise pod, for garnish (optional)
  1. In a heatproof mug, mix the rhum agricole with both liqueurs, then stir in the hot chocolate. Garnish with the whipped cream and star anise.
