Ben Dougherty is obsessed with quirky cocktail recipes and scours forgotten cocktail guides to find ones like this pleasantly bitter gin drink.
"It makes people feel sophisticated," says Zig Zag co-owner Dougherty, referring to this improbable yet delicious combination of gin, the bitter Italian digestif Fernet Branca and the sweet French aperitif Dubonnet.
- SERVINGS: makes 1 drink

Ingredients
- Ice
- 1 1/2 ounces gin
- 1/2 ounce Dubonnet red
- 1/4 ounce Grand Marnier
- 1/4 ounce Fernet Branca
Directions
- Fill two-thirds of a pint glass with ice. Add the remaining ingredients and stir briskly for 30 seconds to chill. Strain into a chilled martini glass.
