This take on the Tom Collins is from mixologist Joel Teitelbaum. He mixes vodka with cucumber, lemon juice and fresh mint, then tops the drink with soda water "to finish with that slight carbon dioxide astringency you get from good seltzer," he says.

Ingredients

  • 8 mint leaves
  • Three 1/4-inch-thick cucumber wheels, plus 1 long cucumber slice for garnish
  • 3/4 ounce Simple Syrup
  • 2 ounces vodka, preferably grape or wheat
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • Ice
  • 1 ounce chilled seltzer

How to make this recipe

  1. In a shaker, muddle the mint with the 3 cucumber wheels and Simple Syrup.
