This drink is loosely based on the 20th Century cocktail, created by British bartender C.A. Tuck for the famous 20th Century Limited train, which ran from New York to Chicago from 1902 to 1967 and carried passengers such as Theodore Roosevelt, "Diamond Jim" Brady and J.P. Morgan.

Recipe: Chocolate-Pear Martini

Ingredients

  1. 1 pear slice
  2. Cocoa powder
  3. Ice
  4. 2 ounces vodka
  5. 1 ounce Belle de Brillet or pear liqueur
  6. 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
  7. 1/2 ounce white crème de cacao
  1. Moisten the outer rim of a martini glass with the pear slice and coat lightly with cocoa. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add all of the remaining ingredients. Shake well; strain into the martini glass
