This drink is loosely based on the 20th Century cocktail, created by British bartender C.A. Tuck for the famous 20th Century Limited train, which ran from New York to Chicago from 1902 to 1967 and carried passengers such as Theodore Roosevelt, "Diamond Jim" Brady and J.P. Morgan.

  • 1 ounce Belle de Brillet or pear liqueur
  • 1 pear slice
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • Cocoa powder

How to make this recipe

  1. Moisten the outer <a href="/articles/cocktail-basics-techniques#rimmingaglass">rim</a> of a martini glass with the pear slice and coat lightly with cocoa. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add all of the remaining ingredients. Shake well; strain into the martini glass
