Chocolate-Cherry Margarita

On a tucked-away corner in Manhattan's meatpacking district, Los Dados chef Sue Torres serves up homey Mexican food and excellent sangria and margaritas. She created this chocolate-accented cherry margarita to celebrate New Year's Eve.

Recipe: Chocolate-Cherry Margarita

Cocoa Sugar

  1. 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  2. 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
  3. Pinch of kosher salt

Cocktail

  1. 1 lime wedge
  2. 5 brandied cherries
  3. 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
  4. Ice
  5. 1 1/2 ounces reposado tequila
  6. 3/4 ounce Cointreau or other triple sec
  1. MAKE THE COCKTAIL Combine the cocoa powder, vanilla sugar, and salt.
  2. Moisten half of the outer rim of a martini glass with the lime wedge and coat lightly with cocoa sugar. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the brandied cherries with the lime juice. Add ice and the tequila and Cointreau and shake well. Strain into the prepared martini glass.
