Champagne Cocktail

According to cocktail historian David Wondrich, this drink was so popular in the late 1800s that celebrated bartender Jerry Thomas ordered 100 cases of Champagne at a time to keep his bar stocked.

  1. 5 ounces chilled Champagne
  2. 1 lemon twist
  3. 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
  4. 1 sugar cube
  1. Pour the Champagne into a chilled flute. Sprinkle the bitters on the sugar cube and add it to the flute. Garnish with the lemon twist.
