Cocktail recipe: Capricious

Capricious

  • SERVINGS: makes 1 drink

At Tales of the Cocktail 2008, an annual festival in New Orleans, Eric Alperin created this Martini variation for a party hosted by St-Germain, the French producers of artisanal elderflower liqueur. Because vermouth and gin have lots of botanical elements, they’re natural partners for the lightly sweet, floral liqueur.

  1. Ice
  2. 1 1/2 ounces gin
  3. 1/2 ounce St-Germain elderflower liqueur
  4. 1/2 ounce dry vermouth
  5. 2 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters
  6. 1 lemon twist, for garnish
  1. Fill a pint glass with ice. Add the gin, St-Germain elderflower liqueur, dry vermouth and Peychaud’s bitters and stir well. Strain into a chilled coupe and garnish the drink with the lemon twist.
