Because brussels sprouts are slightly bitter, Michael Nischan likes to pair them with something sweet: dried cranberries that have been plumped in off-dry Riesling. “I don’t like to overdress vegetables,” he explains. “It takes just one counterpoint to bring the sprouts to a place where people say, ’This is really good.’”

Brussels Sprouts with Cranberries

I'm not sure if it was the sweet and tart wine-plumped cranberries, the aromatic sauteed shallots or the luxurious drizzle of melted butter at the end, but something, or everything, made these Brussels sprouts amazingly delicious!  I have never, ever tasted Brussels sprouts this good before.
