Broken Halo

A lovely aperitif, the Broken Halo combines Plymouth gin (an aromatic style of the spirit that's fruitier than London dry) and nutty, rich oloroso sherry. "This drink is meant to stimulate the appetite and calm the nerves after a long day at work," Erick Castro says.

  1. 1 1/2 ounces Plymouth gin
  2. 1 1/2 ounces oloroso sherry
  3. 1/4 ounce maraschino liqueur
  4. Ice, plus 1 large ice cube for serving
  5. 1 orange twist, for garnish
  1. In a mixing glass, combine the gin, sherry and maraschino liqueur; fill with ice and stir well. Strain the drink into a chilled rocks glass over the large ice cube and garnish with the orange twist.
