"When I make my drinks, I look to the kitchen, particularly to the pastry chef," says bar manager Kristen Johnson. "The fruit and herbs that are at the farmers' market go into her desserts; those same things show up in my cocktails."

Ingredients

  1. 4 blackberries
  2. 4 lemon verbena leaves, plus 1 sprig
  3. 3/4 ounce Simple Syrup
  4. Ice
  5. 1 1/2 ounces gin
  6. 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
  7. 1 ounce chilled club soda
  1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the blackberries with the lemon verbena leaves and Simple Syrup. Add ice and the gin and lime juice. Shake well and strain into an ice-filled rocks glass. Stir in the club soda and garnish with the lemon verbena sprig.
