Mezcal, the Mexican spirit made from roasted agave hearts, provides the smokiness for mixologist Leo Robitschek’s terrific drink. The cocktail also gets a citrus kick from lemon juice and Grand Marnier.

1 ounce mezcal
3/4 ounce Moscatel sherry
1/2 ounce Grand Marnier
1/2 ounce Zwack (spicy, herbal Hungarian liqueur)
3/4 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1 grapefruit twist, for garnish
How to Make It
In a mixing glass, combine all of the ingredients except ice and the garnish; fill with ice and stir well. Strain into a chilled coupe and garnish.
