This unusual twist on a Bloody Mary brings together balsamic vinegar and harissa, a spicy and pungent North African chile paste that's available in specialty food stores.

Recipe: Balsamic Morocco Mary

Ingredients

  1. Ice
  2. 4 ounces tomato juice
  3. 2 ounces water
  4. 1 teaspoon harissa
  5. 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar, plus 1 splash for garnish
  6. 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
  7. Salt and freshly ground pepper
  8. 3 cherry tomatoes, halved
  1. Fill a rocks glass with ice. Add all of the remaining ingredients except the cherry tomatoes and the splash of balsamic vinegar. Pour the mixture back and forth between the rocks glass and a cocktail shaker 2 times, then pour the contents into the rocks glass. Garnish with the cherry tomatoes and the splash of balsamic vinegar.
