Apples to Oranges

  • SERVINGS: Makes 1 Drink

People who taste this citrusy cocktail almost always guess that it contains apples or oranges or some other fruit, but never the actual ingredients: cucumber and grapefruit.

  1. 1 ounce fresh white grapefruit juice
  2. 1/2 ounce Simple Syrup
  3. 2 slices of English cucumber, plus 3 or 4 thin slices for garnish
  4. Dash of celery bitters (optional)
  5. Ice
  6. 2 ounces bourbon
  1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the 2 cucumber slices. Add ice and all of the remaining ingredients except the garnish and shake well. Strain into an ice-filled double rocks glass and garnish with the thin cucumber slices.
