Añejo Highball

  • SERVINGS: makes 1 drink

Stage Left • New Brunswick, NJ

"Curaçao, lime and rum are the Holy Trinity of the island rum drink," says world-famous mixologist Dale DeGroff. His añejo (aged) highball is a tribute to great Cuban bartenders like Constantine Ribalaigua, who created the Papa Doble daiquiri for Hemingway. The Grand Marnier here replaces the curaçao.

Plus: Ultimate Cocktail Guide

  1. Ice
  2. 1 1/2 ounces aged amber rum
  3. 3/4 ounce Grand Marnier
  4. 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
  5. 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
  6. 1 ounce chilled ginger beer
  7. 1 lime wheel
  8. 1/2 orange wheel
  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the rum, Grand Marnier, lime juice and bitters and shake well. Strain into an ice-filled highball glass and stir in the ginger beer. Garnish with the lime wheel and orange wheel half.
