Vineyard Hotel & Spa
The Vineyard, built around a 200-year-old homestead in the tranquil and leafy suburb of Newlands, has just emerged from a significant face-lift. A majority of its 173 bedrooms have been redone, and the work is most successful in the 10 Riverside rooms—with natural colors, Mozambican wood floors, stone-tiled bathrooms, and private gardens. In addition to a state-of-the-art gym, the hotel now has an Angsana Spa, where the signature massage blends Thai, Swedish, and Balinese techniques. Vineyard’s Au Jardin restaurant also brings international influences; for example, French chef Alex Coupy prepares such dishes as Mozambican black tiger prawn curry. When you’ve had your fill of relaxation, the city center is just 15 minutes away.
