Built in Victorian times as a banking hall, the Threadneedles Hotel fits in with Financial District neighbors such as the Bank of England's headquarters. A hand-painted glass dome, which dates to 1856, arcs over the lobby of walnut wall panels and marble floors. Ride up the leather-interior elevator to one of 70 rooms and suites, each with a limestone bathroom, duck down duvet, and Frette linen. Business-oriented amenities range from a daily newspaper and shoeshine to personal business cards listing the room’s private, direct phone number. At Bonds Restaurant, chef Barry Tonks sources local produce for a modern French menu.
Congratulations to Mei Lin, winner of Top Chef Season 12.
