Le Méridien Dallas, The Stoneleigh
In 2008, the Stoneleigh spent $36 million renovating the dark and drab out of this classic 1920s uptown property. The bright, modern décor pays homage to the original Art Deco sensibilities while adding local flavor, including works by contemporary Texas artists, in the 170 rooms. Street noise does filter through the windows—but this is a small complaint for such a looker, offering amenities that range from a spa to free Wi-Fi to the popular Bolla restaurant, serving New American cuisine by James Beard–nominated chef David Bull.
