Victorian both inside and out, this stately five-room inn—originally designed in 1891 by Walter T. Downing, one of Atlanta's premier architects—is one of the city's designated landmark buildings. Owners Ed and Debbie McCord have lovingly preserved the building's architectural flourishes, which include a stunning stained glass window overlooking the staircase. Guest rooms are decorated in period splendor, with Oriental rugs, wallpaper that replicates patterns in London's Victoria and Albert Museum, and antique carved-wood bedsteads, chairs, and dressers. All have completely up-to-date en suite baths with granite floors and steam showers; some even have whirlpool tubs. The common spaces include a charming parlor, a library (great for reading the paper or for a game of chess), and an ornate dining room where a full cooked breakfast awaits guests every morning. <p><strong>Tip:</strong> If you fancy a peaceful stroll or morning jog, head over to lovely, tree-shaded Piedmont Park a few blocks away.</p> <p><strong>Room to Book:</strong> While the two front rooms are spacious and offer the best value, the Tiffany and Veranda Rooms have direct access to a spacious veranda with wicker furniture and views over the inn's backyard garden.</p>
