Relais Santa Anastasia
An abbey stands on a hilltop overlooking the town of Castelbuono in northern Sicily. Eight centuries ago it was full of Benedictine monks, but today it's the Relais Santa Anastasia, hosting guests in 25 rooms and three suites behind its thick, stone walls. In tribute to its history of winemaking (vineyards continue to surround the building), the owners named each warm-yet-austerely decorated room after a grape. The hotel also has a tapestried reading room, complete with fireplace and large sofas, as well as a hydro-massage swimming pool and on-site spa.
