It’s impossible to get any closer to the stunning Red Rock Canyon conservation area—located 10 miles west of the Strip—than at the Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa. In the lobby, stacked sandstone brick evokes the aesthetic of the canyon while chandeliers dripping with more than three million crystals reference the glitzy city itself. Guest rooms are understated, with dark wood, luxurious Frette linens, and a few pops of bright color in lime green pillows and bright botanical photos. Don’t miss the intimate spa, with its sexy chocolate-colored low-slung furniture, giant ottomans, and its own entrance to the three-acre outdoor pool pavilion, which ensures you’ll never have to go through the casino to get there. Its adventure spa, with an extensive roster of activities (river rafting, horseback riding, guided hikes, rock climbing in Red Rock), takes advantage of its surroundings and makes it decidedly different from the opulence of the city’s other spas.

Tip: The legendary pitmasters of the Salt Lick Bar-B-Q opened their first and only location outside of Texas here, and the delicious, smoky smells that waft out to the casino floor draw mile-long lines. You can order a brisket or pulled pork sandwich from the in-room dining menu, but a better option is to order from the Salt Lick’s full menu (available on the Red Rock Web site), and pick up your order to go—right back up to your room.
