The 12-room whitewashed Melenos Lindos is a quiet refuge in the popular town of Lindos, on the Grecian island of Rhodes. Designer Michalis Melenos drew from the area’s mixed artistic heritage—Greek, Byzantine, Arabic, Ottoman—in creating the hotel. Ceilings are hand-stenciled, beds are carved by village craftsmen, and pathways are paved in beach-pebble mosaics. Melenos Lindos keeps a stash of antique walking sticks on hand for hikes to a nearby medieval fortress, but it is also set up for less demanding pursuits; a cliffside tented terrace has uninterrupted views of one of the island’s most spectacular harbors.
