1 Dong Khoi St., District 1
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
84-8-829-5517

COST: $

In a prime setting where Dong Khoi Street meets the Saigon River, this 1925 French colonial landmark, like its sister “heritage hotels,” the Continental and the Grand, is managed by Saigontourist, Vietnam’s state-run tourism authority, which is—well, decidedly not the Four Seasons. Still, its history (it was used as military barracks by the Japanese Imperial Army in WWII), riverfront location, throwback architecture, and refined colonial atmosphere compensate for the halting service and Socialist-era décor in the 90 rooms. Plus, the rates are comparatively reasonable.

Room to Book: Ask for an interior courtyard room; those facing the river and Dong Khoi can be noisy.
