<p>Louis XIV would feel right at home in this ornate, over-the-top (and surprisingly affordable) Downtown hotel, where almost all of 119 guest rooms are suites. The décor here is whimsical and glamorous, with sun-bright colors and sun-motif artwork; all rooms have eclectic Euro-Asian furnishings, gold and red fabrics, marble finishes, and boldly striped gold wallpaper. Baths have deep soaking tubs and are stocked with Aveda toiletries. The in-house Copper Chimney restaurant, while not the most scintillating option for dinner, has an interesting lunch menu of Indian-fusion dishes (prawn pakoras, curried mussels). </p> <p><strong>Insider Tip:</strong> Le Soleil is located next door to one of Vancouver's finest fitness facilities—the 30,000-square-foot YWCA. Hotel guests have full access for a nominal fee ($11 per day). </p> <p><strong>Room to Book:</strong> If you're traveling solo, rooms ending in 01are the only guest units that aren't suites (although they're not tiny either; each has a king-size bed). </p>
