<p>Hip hotels are slowly trumping the staid in the ski community of Falls Creek, about four and a half hours by car from Melbourne. Consider Huski, a Cubist riot of timber and glass, to be the edgiest entry. Just below Falls Creek's highest slope, the resort's vistas extend to the peak of Mount Spion Kopje. The Produce Store, on the ground floor, serves as both a café and a reception area. After a day on the slopes, the communal table and open fireplace—along with warming menu items like spicy pumpkin soup and hot chocolate—provide a welcome respite. Inside the 14 suites, you'll find cozy touches like in-floor heating and hand-knit throws, plus custom-designed furniture and pixilated photographs by Melbourne artist Peter Bennetts. </p>
