Hotel Palomar, Philadelphia
Housed in a 1929 Art Deco landmark known as the Architects Building, the Hotel Palomar has some of the coolest digs in Philly. Guests may choose to hole up in one of the 230 contemporary bedrooms with haute design touches (splashy purple throw pillows, jazzy light fixtures) and fun amenities (yoga mats, healthy mini-bar snacks), although the hotel staff does its best to encourage exploration of the surrounding Rittenhouse Square neighborhood. A pre-check-in email details locals’ picks for top restaurants, shops, and activities throughout the city; the concierge also has jogging maps, dog park directions, and kid-friendly itineraries on hand. Like all Kimpton hotels, the Palomar is also eco-friendly; the Philadelphia property is the brand’s first to receive LEED Gold certification.
