Quirky, fun, and hip, the boutique-size Glenn occupies a former 1923 office building on a busy downtown block. A trio of supersize, bright red planters brimming with live bamboo marks the entrance—and gives visitors an immediate sense of the property's whimsy. Inside, the 110 rooms are outfitted with cool retro-chic pieces: platform beds; modular, Ikea-ish sofas and Aeron chairs; plasma-screen TV's; and iridescent drapes. The common spaces include a loftlike lobby bar and a truly fabulous rooftop lounge for canoodling over cocktails. Getting to the roof requires a separate elevator ride—which means guests who want to party don't disturb those who want their sleep. <p><strong>Tip:</strong> The hotel's new restaurant, Maxim Prime Steakhouse—the collaborative effort of restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow and Maxim magazine—is due to start serving steaks in spring 2008.</p> <p><strong>Room to Book:</strong> Couples will like the "peek-a-boo" showers in the Luxe King rooms, where only a silver-beaded glass wall separates the room from whomever's soaping up.</p>
