Fairmont Copley Plaza
Opened in the Back Bay in 1912, the Fairmont Copley Plaza is a seven-story Beaux-Arts structure with a limestone and brick exterior and a spacious lobby featuring Italian marble columns and a gilded ceiling hung with crystal chandeliers. Every U.S. president since Taft stayed here, as did celebrities like Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor, and Richard Burton. All 383 guestrooms are designed with red and gold fabrics, custom-made furnishings, and marble bathrooms. In addition to an award-winning steakhouse, the hotel offers special services such as the companionship of Canine Ambassador Catie Copley, a black Labrador who can accompany guests on walks.
