Designed by Foster & Partners, the hotel underwent a four-year high-tech makeover that cost a cool $427 million. A pair of curving glass-and-steel wings (the Golf Wing and the Spa Wing), with balcony railings filigreed with silhouettes of trees, now wrap around and behind the original hotel, which Foster also renovated. Inside, gently curving hallways evoke a 2001: A Space Odyssey sort of mood, and wooden doors open to reveal quietly modern guest rooms—off-white leather upholstery, smoked-oak flooring, and private terraces.
