Thirteen artists were each given the same budget to decorate the rooms at Daddy Long Legs. Guests are taken on a tour of the unoccupied “exhibitions” and then invited to select their favorite. Among the options: Open Room, with wallpaper picturing Cape Town sunsets, and You Are Here, a serene space with maps pinpointing this prime spot on one of the city’s oldest and most vibrant streets. On weekends, ad hoc Drama Night parties (with open-mike sessions and free concerts) are held in the lounge. Every couple of months, the contemporary art in the hallways is changed—creating another excuse for a party. A tip: If you’re sensitive to noise, pick a room at the rear of the building, far from the lounge and the street.
