Club Med, Buccaneer's Creek

596 76 72 72

The company that invented the all-inclusive resort in the 1950’s is now reinventing it. With a $60 million overhaul of Buccaneer’s Creek, Club Med is shedding its “sun, sand, sex” image in favor of a more polished, health-conscious one. The 293 guest quarters, with colorful West Indian–inspired fabrics and tiled floors, now have mini-fridges, flat-screen TV’s, and rain-shower baths. Dining has also been upgraded, with three new restaurants: a French-Caribbean fusion menu in the heart of a coconut grove; a traditional buffet; and a poolside grill. A 5,000-square-foot infinity pool is also a first, as is the Club Med Spa and Club Med Gym. Perhaps the biggest change is the attitude: the disco shuts down before dawn, and the gourmet cheese table is often more crowded than the bar.
