Caol Ishka Hotel
Caol Ishka, gaelic for "Sound of water," sits on the bucolic Anapo River just outside the Sicilian town of Ortigia. The young owners, Emanuela Marino and Gareth Shaughnessy, have retained the skeletons of original farm buildings but redesigned their interiors to make 10 rustically soigné rooms with wooden roofs, lavish showers, and stylish Italian lighting and fixtures. You can get Wi-Fi out on the veranda, ringed by papyrus and stands of bamboo, or sit by the river and watch the rowers go by in their shells.
Congratulations to Mei Lin, winner of Top Chef Season 12.
