Blue Lake Ranch
Owner David Alford converted a homestead built by Norwegian immigrants into this country-estate bed-and-breakfast overlooking Blue Lake and the La Plata Mountains. Completed in 1983, the property is situated on 200 private acres with eight different accommodations, ranging from garden cottages to a private cabin on the Lake. Smaller rooms in the main Ranch House have king-sized feather beds, while the larger suites in the barn and casitas have whirlpool bathtubs and living areas. The Alford family serves a daily complimentary breakfast in the Ranch House's common room, using homemade recipes like whole-wheat pancakes with pinenuts.
