Privacy is the reason to reserve one of this Aman’s 35 thatched-roof suites, set behind bougainvillea-covered sandstone walls. Though the villas themselves have slightly outdated décor, they still feature gorgeous teak four-poster beds, round tables for private dining, sunken indoor bathtubs, outdoor showers, and private courtyards. The resort’s greatest asset is the beach club, which has a beachside café, complimentary use of snorkel gear and boogie boards, a phalanx of attentive valets, and 10 bales (bamboo pavilions) set on one of the island’s most beautiful stretches of beach.
Tip: Head to the beach club early to stake out your spot—the bales get snapped up quickly. Numbers 6, 7, 8, and 9 are the most secluded.
Room to book: Deluxe Suites number 28 and 29 have the resort’s widest views over the sweeping Nelson & Wright-designed golf course (of the Bali Golf and Country Club) and the Indian Ocean beyond.
Congratulations to Mei Lin, winner of Top Chef Season 12.
