Chef Bruce Sherman (an F&W Best New Chef 2003) is a paragon of dedication to local and sustainable farmers, and his contemporary American style has a firm French baseline. In mid-2002, he expanded and remodeled this handsome Arts & Crafts room. Glass doors now face the eponymous pond, finally making a feature of the park setting.

We Loved

Chanterelle tart with warm goat cheese; grilled leg of lamb and house-made merguez sausage with pistachio couscous; grilled black cod with sweet-potato puree and balsamic-roasted radicchio.

Insider tip

The six-course, $79 tasting menu is a relative bargain. Add $40 for wine pairings from the interesting list—the staff is unusually knowledgeable.
