Opened in 2001, Izote was cookbook author and Mexican-food doyenne Patricia Quintana’s first foray into the restaurant business. Regulars such as Mexico’s television newscasters and Gabriel García Márquez don’t come for the decor—white tile walls with indigenous motifs and bright lights make it like eating in an Aztec swimming pool—but for fascinating nouvelle twists on Mexican dishes.
