Food lovers swarmed this excellent little Soho Sichuan place the moment it opened last year. With big windows that look out onto the street and lots of stone and wood punctuated with Chinese opera masks, the backdrop is serene. Though the fiery cooking is not Westernized—note the rare ingredients, such as medicinal milk-vetch root (an immune-boosting Chinese rhizome)—it proves quite approachable.
