The first non–New York City outpost of Manhattan megarestaurateur Danny Meyer’s empire is this spin-off of his famed Union Square Cafe. The restaurant is on the ground floor of the To-kyo Midtown development’s Garden Terrace in the Roppongi district. Union Square Cafe chef Michael Romano will create the menu here, too: a mix of the greatest New American hits at the Manhattan branch (like filet mignon of tuna) and dishes designed to appeal to a Tokyo audience. Ingredients, in keeping with Meyer’s and Romano’s ethos, will be sourced locally and highlight seasonal ingredients from Tokyo markets.
