French pastry genius Pierre Hermé has been in Japan nearly 10 years (he opened his first store here three years before he opened in Paris). He just launched a third branch of his confectionary, a small take-out shop in the 120-year-old flagship Isetan department store in Shinjuku, but the luxurious Bar Chocolat in the Aoyama area is still the ideal place to linger over his delicate macaroons and the richest hot chocolate in the East.
