Last year’s biggest opening, the Philippe Starck–designed LAN has many of his now-familiar flourishes: hyper-ornate details like hand-painted ceilings and soaring eagle statues; ostentatious, salonlike rooms; and dramatic lighting—all of which attracts the omnipresent (for the time being) Beijing A-list. The fine, fiery Sichuan food holds its own.
