We’re only a couple of days out from Christmas which means whether you’re in need of a few last minute gifts or a few last minute holiday decorations, there’s no better time to go all DIY on some random stuff around your house instead of fighting through the other procrastinators at the stores.

For instance, if you happen to have some apples that are getting ignored as you turn your attention to holiday cookies, why not use them to make festive candles? That’s what the YouTube channel Household Hacker suggests. Their video provides simple instructions on how to make a candle out of nothing more than an apple, some cooking oil and a string/wick.

Of course, turning a perfectly good apple into a candle might seem like a waste – though not as big of a waste as all those other fruits that will end up in fruit cakes no one eats.
