In movies, a character’s cooking is often a side plot—like Adam Sandler’s work as a successful California chef who is crushed by his restaurant’s four-star review, in Spanglish. But in the newly released trailer for Chef, out May 9, cooking takes center stage as star Jon Favreau’s Carl Casper starts his own food truck. So we’ll get the mix of funny and touching we’ve come to expect from a Favreau film (even his action movies have some very real relationships: Tony Stark and Pepper Potts, anyone?), and we’ll also get some seriously beautiful food. If the movie looks as good to you as it does to us, you can learn more about it in a Favreau feature in the May issue of Food & Wine that reveals how he learned to make all of those amazing dishes with help of the food-truck king Roy Choi, one of our favorite chefs.
