With so many Kickstarter projects out there, it can be hard to pick one to actually contribute to. Here at FWx we do our best to sort through the good, the bad and the fund worthy.
You may never again have to worry about perfectly measuring baking ingredients. A company called PantryChic has developed a prototype for a system that stores dry products like flour and sugar, and dispenses them in precise amounts (by weight instead of volume, to ensure consistency). Just attach a canister full of one of your dry pantry staples to the top of a dispenser, which is affixed to a scale; set the quantity required, push a button and out comes exactly the amount you need. The machine converts cup or spoon measurements to weight, so you don’t have to. The canisters are also designed as airtight storage units, so you can get rid of those open, half-empty bags of flour you’ve got in the pantry.
PantryChic is raising funds through a Kickstarter campaign and needs to hit $50,000 (it’s made about $15,000, with 29 days to go) to put the machine into production. Check out the prototype in action, above. In February of next year, PantryChic aims to send a dispensing system to those who donate $199.
