Kevin Durant's Restaurant Is Catching Flack For His Departure to Golden State
Yelp is a place for rating the quality of restaurants and other businesses, not some sort of NBA message board, but don’t tell that to the spurned Yelpers of Oklahoma City who are currently raging over the recent news that one of their two top stars and only MVP in franchise history, Kevin Durant, would be taking his talents to the Golden State Warriors: These angry OKCers have been looking for whatever outlet they can find to vent, even the Yelp page of Durant’s local restaurant KD’s.
Whether the Southern-influenced cuisine at KD’s is your cup of sweet tea is up to you, but it’s certainly not worthy of irrelevant reviews like “When I first ate his food it tasted amazing…. Now it just taste [sic] like the food of a traitor” or “Much like his game it was overpriced and flashy.” Those are just a couple of the eleven reviews that Yelp has removed for violating the site’s terms of service since Durant’s announcement yesterday. Luckily, Eater grabbed a screenshot of some of the trollers’ gripes for those interested in reading the musings of people who would begrudge someone the opportunity to join the one of the best teams in the history of the NBA.
But whereas losing Durant is bad news for the Thunder, the move could be doubly good for Oakland, home of the Warriors. In a five-star review from the more serious days of 2014, one Yelper wrote, “Here's hoping to KD leaving the OKC and signing with the Lakers just so that he can open one of these in LA.” That’s pretty high praise. Maybe even if Durant can’t get the Warriors another NBA Championship, at least the city can get a solid restaurant out of the deal.
