Great minds want credit for their work. The Baha Men want credit for singing “Who Let the Dogs Out?” Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs want the recognition they deserve for being Two Broke Girls. And hopefully we never forget that Doug Ellin directed the Entourage movie. So clearly, if you invented the majestic new Burger King menu item Mac n’ Cheetos, you want the kudos that are rightfully yours.
That’s the stance of Internet micro-celebrity The Vulgar Chef who has been telling anyone who will listen that Mac n’ Cheetos was actually his creation. “At first I was like what the fuck? Like...you’re fucking Burger King,” the Chef, whose real name is Kyle Marcoux, told Foodbeast. “It actually is a little flattering that a company as large as BK would take an idea from a fat, drunk, illiterate food blogger who is basically an Internet food troll. Kind of sad if you ask me.”
So where does Marcoux turn to validate his claims? Well, his old friend the internet, of course. Back on September 30, 2015, he posted a video entitled “CHEETOS CRUSTED MAC N/ CHEESE FRIES.” Indeed, the similarities in the 94-second video to what Burger is slinging now are striking. And to add insult to injury, Burger King’s creation has garnered far more attention on the web than The Vulgar Chef’s original vid – which had only racked up about 5,000 views before these new revelations.
So are we really supposed to believe that Burger King ripped off some dude on the internet? Maybe. Foodbeast seems to think that’s the case. And Marcoux says it would at least be nice to see “The Vulgar Chef's Mac & Cheetos” on BK’s menu. “If I could write an open letter to the fast food bitches I would tell them I love them and their artery clogging food, and if they want any help creating new exotic menu items to drop me a fucking email,” he told Foodbeast. “Don't just skim through my blog and try to sneak one over on me. All of us food bloggers want at the end of the day is credit.”
