Everyone loves a pizza with an amazing crust, but at an average pizza shop, the crust is rarely much more than a platform for supporting those delicious layers of sauce, cheese and toppings. So what would be the harm in doing away with the crust entirely?
With that in mind, the site Foodbeast put together the above video showing how you can easily turn an old-fashioned meal of tomato soup into a far more exciting “pizza soup.” The whole process is almost so self-explanatory that they barely include a formal recipe. Simply top your favorite tomato soup with a French-onion-soup-like layer of mozzarella cheese (or any cheese you deem pizza-worthy; they also use Gruyère for “stringy-ness”) and then top the whole thing off with pepperonis or any other toppings of your choosing. Finally, broil the whole thing into melted pizza perfection.
And with the Super Bowl coming up, anything goes in the eating department until after Sunday. Let’s use that as an excuse to go heavy on the pizza soup this weekend.
