There’s always room for Jell-O and this time it’s in the deep fryer.

Concession stand veteran Ruth Hauntz’s fried Jell-O took home top prize in the category of Best Taste at this year’s Big Tex Choice Awards held by the State Fair of Texas.

The classic cherry concoction, breaded in panko and fried, was a hit with this year’s judges: a bull rider, a radio personality, a chef, a city councilwoman and a randomly-selected audience member.

Crinkle-cut cookie fries (which look and sound freakin' delicious) took home the prize for Most Creative, while semifinalists included a bacon burger dog slider on a stick and chicken pot pie pocket with mac 'n' cheese dip.

Everything may be bigger in Texas, but apparently nothing more than their fair-goers' appetites. We're certainly not judging.
