The United States women’s gymnastics team annihilated the rest of the world in Rio this week, and with an average age of 19, it's a reminder that gymnastics is a young person’s game. The same could be said of beer pong. Unless you’re some sort of 10th year senior, you probably gave up tossing ping pong balls in Solo cups long ago. But just as Uzbekistan’s Oksana Chusovitina proved in Rio you are never too old to excel athletically (seriously, you should watch this 41-year-old woman vault), the grandmother of Trevor Pope took to the beer pong table recently to dominate her competition in Prospect Heights, Illinois and show that drinking for sport knows no age.
The Facebook video of Pope’s 100-year-old grandmother sinking a cup on her 100th birthday has racked up tens of thousands of views and it will, to paraphrase Al Michaels, make you believe in miracles.
