Starbucks Can’t Even Get An Oscar Winner’s Name Right
When making a Starbucks joke, you’ve got about three basic premises: The drink size names are ridiculous, Pumpkin Spice Lattes are so basic, and the baristas never spell your name right. And as often is the case, these things are funny because they are true – even for the internationally famous.
No, Helen Hunt didn’t show off how basic she is by ordering a PSL. Instead, she dropped into Starbucks to order what appears to be some sort of iced tea, at which point, as she recounts on her Twitter account, the following interaction occurred: “Asked the barista if she wanted my name. She winked and said. ‘We gotcha’.”
Here’s how the drink arrived…

Yes, despite nearly 100 film and TV roles, including an Academy Award nod for The Sessions and an Oscar win for As Good As It Gets, Helen Hunt was mistaken for another famous, Academy Award-winning actress – Jodie Foster – by a barista who didn’t even know how to spell Foster’s first name correctly.
Granted, being that Mad About You ended its TV run back in 1999, I doubt many baristas working today have been following Hunt’s career since her early days playing a newlywed opposite Paul Reiser. So maybe Hunt should take solace in knowing that at least a barista thought she recognized her – unlike if that barista saw, say, Paul Reiser.
